Liz Smith MSP congratulates St Andrews University on top ranking in Times University Guide

Liz Smith MSP has today congratulated St Andrews University on its placing as the highest ranked university in the UK  in the Times and Sunday Times University Guide. This is the first occasion on which a UK university other than Oxford or Cambridge has won such an accolade.

Commenting Liz Smith said,

“This is a richly deserved accolade. May l offer my warmest congratulations to Professor Sally Mapstone for her outstanding leadership and to the staff and students on this remarkable achievement.

"There is always intense competition in the university sector and this award is recognition of St Andrews' long tradition of academic excellence but also of its leading role in innovation and cutting edge research."
