Scottish Tory MSP, Liz Smith, has urged Perth and Kinross residents to have their voices heard over proposed removal of the direct rail link between Perth and Edinburgh. Liz will also be launching a petition with fellow MSP, Murdo Fraser to call for this unacceptable proposal to be scrapped.
Liz said:
“ I am very concerned by these proposals and it is very clear that the public is too.
"In particular, the proposed removal of the direct link between Perth and Edinburgh, because trains would be asked to re-route via Dunfermline, would increase journey times rather than decrease them.
"For years, the public have wanted to see the direct Perth to Edinburgh link upgraded so that journey times are reduced and to ensure there is far more incentive to get out of a car onto greener alternatives. So these proposals are completely contrary to these expectations and fly in the face of ambitions on climate change.
"ScotRail’s public consultation has just opened and l hope local people will make their voices heard”.
