The official opening of the Scottish Parliament's sixth session took place on Saturday 2nd October at Holyrood in the Parliament's Debating Chamber.
In a ceremony celebrating the work and dedication of local heroes from across Scotland, Liz Smith MSP paid tribute to the part Robert Allan of Kinross Rugby Club played during the pandemic and the local community.
Commenting, Liz said, “I was absolutely delighted to welcome Robert Allan of Kinross Rugby Club to Holyrood for the official opening of the Scottish Parliament and even more delighted that the Queen took time to speak with him and commend the club for all that it had achieved during the pandemic.
Everywhere l go in Kinross local people speak very highly of the club and, most especially, its work with junior players, many of whom had a really tough time during the height of Covid when so many other activities were halted.
I warmly congratulate the club and look forward to its continuing progress this season.”
