Murdo Fraser MSP has strongly welcomed the “green light” given by the UK Government to bids submitted by Perth and Kinross Council to the Shared Prosperity Fund.
The UK Government have confirmed that all bids will be given the go-ahead, as part of a £212 million investment in Scotland through the fund.
Perth and Kinross Council will receive £5,724,925 thanks to the UK Government as part of the Tay Cities Region economic partnership.
The Shared Prosperity Fund, part of the levelling-up agenda, focuses on three key areas: local community facilities, helping businesses develop and improving people’s skills. The millions being awarded to Perth and Kinross Council covers a funding period until March 2025.
Mr Fraser says this is another example of the UK Government delivering for people and communities in Perth and Kinross and feels that the announcement comes at a crucial time due to the economic challenges facing the region.
Commenting, Mr Fraser, who represents the Mid Scotland and Fife region for the Scottish Conservatives, said: “The approval of these bids that were submitted by Perth and Kinross Council is hugely positive news.
“It is just the latest example of the UK Government delivering tangible benefits for people and communities in Perth and Kinross. This fund will deliver to those who need it most, including businesses who are going through a tough time, and the money will also go towards helping to improve people’s skillsets.
“I will be working closely with Scottish Conservative Councillor colleagues in Perth and Kinross to ensure this funding is delivered to organisations and individuals who require it now the green light has been given by the UK Government.”
