Following concerns raised by local constituents about the water quality of Loch Leven, Liz Smith MSP commented:
“Whilst some measures have been put in place to improve the water quality, it is very clear to me that there remains considerable concern amongst constituents about the high levels of phosphorus and algal pollutants in the water of Loch Leven and the detrimental impact this is having on the local environment.
"I share these concerns, and those expressed by Perth and Kinross Council. Loch Leven is an extremely important natural asset both in terms of natural beauty and wildlife habitats and it is vitally important that further work continues to address the rising levels of pollutants.”
