Murdo Fraser MSP and Liz Smith MSP have written to thank volunteers for their efforts during the celebration of King Charles III and Queen Camilla's Coronation.
Commenting, Liz Smith MSP said:
“I want to start by extending my warmest thanks and congratulations to all those volunteers who did so much to ensure our local communities were able to celebrate the Coronation of Charles lll and Queen Camilla in such style. It might not have been the best weather all weekend but the magnificence of the pageantry in London, the very moving, and historic service in Westminster Abbey, plus the many activities around our communities provided an occasion we will never forget.
I was privileged to attend a number of events across the region, including at Fowlis Wester and Innerpeffray Chapel, and greatly enjoyed both of them. It was truly an honour to attend events on this historic occasion in Strathearn which is so richly linked with royal history.
There was a real desire to bring people together and it worked. Even those who are not natural monarchists appreciated the efforts that were being made to mark the occasion and l know some were even taking the trouble to help with decorating village halls, parks and gardens. Thank you to them too.
May we all wish the King and the Queen a happy and glorious reign.”
