Mid Scotland and Fife MSP Liz Smith has commented on the news that Kilgraston School in Bridge of Earn has announced its closure.
Liz Smith said:
"This is a devastating blow. Not only has Kilgraston School provided first class education over many years but it has also made a significant contribution to the local economy in terms of both employment and community access to its facilities.
The financial pressures everywhere are severe but those in the independent school sector have been exacerbated by the imposition of non-domestic rates and issues related to boarding costs.
As the governors have said, the welfare of staff, pupils and parents is paramount and it is good to hear that other schools are offering immediate support.”
